What is happening in your body and your thoughts? You do not have to change it yet. Just notice.
A small practice for parents
When a moment feels charged, a little space can help you hear what is happening and choose what comes next.
Ask about parenting supportA practice, not a perfect formula
Try this sequence when you notice yourself moving into a familiar reaction. Even one breath or one changed sentence can be a meaningful interruption.
What is happening in your body and your thoughts? You do not have to change it yet. Just notice.
Try a simple, honest phrase: "I am feeling rushed," "I feel unheard," or "I need a moment."
Ask what response would reflect the kind of parent or person you want to be in this moment.
If the moment went differently than you hoped, connection can begin again with an apology, a check-in, or a fresh start.
A question for later
What did I need in the moment, and how could I ask for it with care?
There is no single right answer. Let your response be specific to your child, your family, and the support available to you.
